The Pacific Railroad helped towns develop in the United States as it continued across our great country. As many rural towns throughout America were developing during this time, Lawson too, was plotted around a train depot and founded in 1870. Modern day Lawson offers everyone a wide variety of amenities including a farmers market each Thursday during May through October, movies in the city park, city pool, Lawson Picnic and Fall Festival, Christmas at the Barn, playground, disc golf, regular golf course and a WW1 Memorial in the city park. Lawson is located about 40 minutes northeast from downtown Kansas City.
